Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to begin their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look out of place, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his debts and fled to a secure base in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to head to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
