Vinted Shoppers Voice Displeasure About Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Updates
Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
